A Quick Recap of 2014

In spirit of the New Year being in just a few days time, I've decided that I should do a little recap of 2014 before 2015 is amongst us. So let's jump right on in.

1. Mockingjay Part 1
I cannot believe that we are almost at the end of the Hunger Games trilogy. I seriously just cannot comprehend this. It's crazy, but here's to part 2 in 2015!

2. Divergent
This year we also got to see our dearly beloved Tris and Tobias on our screens. And in 2015, Insurgent will be released. You can watch the trailer for Insurgent here.

3. The Fault in our Stars
This was also the year that we finally got to see TFIOS and the fandom exploded. Enough said.

4. The Maze Runner
This year was when I finally got around to reading the Maze Runner series and fell in love when Dylan O'Brien stepped onto my screen. Here's to The Scorch Trials next year, eh?

5. Four
Now, this one doesn't really fit in with the recurring theme of book to move adaptations, but I though it deserved a mention.

Here's to 2015!

I'm going to link the previous posts I have done on these movies/books here so you can read more of what I think if you wish.

Thanks for reading this blogpost, I hope you enjoyed! If you would like to see my welcome to 2014 post from last year then it will be linked here for you.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Just thought that I'd throw in a little post to tell you that I hope you have a very merry Christmas and get everything you wanted and all that jazz. I'll be stuffing my face the entire day with anything I can get my hands on so I'll probably be the size of a house by Boxing Day.

Have a good Christmas,

Have you seen it yet?

In all honesty, I had absolutely 0 ideas for this blogpost, so I'm just going to continue to talk about Mockingjay, ok? Good.

I'm going to keep this brief, because lets be quite honest, we've got better things to get around to doing rather than being here all day reading this post. Anyway, I hope you have all, by now, seen Mockingjay. if not YOU HAVE TO GO SEE IT ASAP. Because seriously, you're missing out if you don't go and see it when the hype is still about.

Go see it.

Are You, Are You, Coming to the Tree? | MOCKINGJAY PART 1

Have you seen it? Have ya? If you haven't then WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?

I won't give any spoilers in this post because that just spoils it for those of you who haven't watched it yet. BUT IT'S SO GOOD ISN'T IT?!

I actually cannot believe how good it turned out. It's such a climactic film that's just fabulous. Hanging Tree is also the work of a genius so well done to the Lumineers who put it to the fabulous tune. I just need to see it again or I might die.

The part they finished it at is just incredible and leaves the film on such a cliffhanger, oog it's so good!! That end scene though, I just can't even.

I literally cannot even handle this.

IT'S ALMOST HERE

As I'm sure you know, it's almost time for Mockingjay Part One. WHICH IS SO EXCITING. I hope we can share the excitement and I'm sure I will see plenty of tributes on twitter fangirling over what is happening, which is just so super exciting. Just to think, after next year, it'll be all over. No more stills, or trailers. That's it. Done. Unless, of course, Suzanne Collins releases another book. Anyway, I can't believe that it's almost finished. What are we going to do with our lives? My twitter is called heartingTHG for a reason, y'know?

I hope to God that Mockingjay lives up to our expectations. And I wonder where they will decide is 'part one' and 'part two'. Hmm. Sorry, I'm blabbering now. Anyway, I'm going to be seeing it on Sunday with my good friend Sarah, A.K.A trisgirlonfire and we are both SO EXCITED so expect next week's post to be about Mockingjay.

I can't even.

HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?...

OMG GUYS YOU FINALLY DID IT! YOU DID IT! WE MADE IT OVER 1000 PAGEVIEWS!

Thank you so much guys, you've managed to get me to 1000 pageviews and that is just incredible. I don't even know what to say, I'm just absolutely gobsmacked. Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU'RE ALL AMAZING AND I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU.

Thanks,

Emma (heartingTHG)

We Will Remember Them

November 11th is a day widely remembered by the vast majority of the world. It is a day that we remember the fallen soldiers of not just the First World War, but we remember the fallen of all wars. The picture above is from a ceremony I attended with my school in my hometown where we each lay a poppy cross with a soldier's name that is from our area who died in the First World War. If you read my other blog you will have also known that in September I went to Belgium with my school's history department to see the World War One battlefields, an experience that truly broke my heart. I will insert a few pictures from my trip below and if you want to find out anything about it like all the places we went or anything then just let me know.
So I hope today that you had your two minutes silence to think about someone, a complete stranger even, who gave up their today to give you a better tomorrow.

 Pool of Peace

Sanctuary Wood Museum and Trenches

Tyne Cot Cemetary

The Menin Gate

When you go home tell them of us and say 'for your tomorrow we gave our today'.

P.S.- I will also be putting this exact post onto my other blog (aspectofbeauty.blogspot.com). Just to let you know incase you thought it was a complete stranger.

MOCKINGJAY PART ONE TRAILERS

Both this week and last week have been filled with exciting stuff in the fandoms and I'm just SO EXCITED! Anyway, firstly the official full Mockingjay Part 1 trailer came out, and secondly The Fault in Our Stars was released on DVD and Bluray. So today I'm going to be chatting about the Mockingjay trailer and next week I'm going to be talking about TFIOS DVD after it arrives in the post.

There was various different TV spots and trailers were released last week that had various different names, however I've seen a combination of them at once during the adverts on the TV. Anyway, all of them are BLOODY BRILLIANT and need to be watched momentarily. I will leave the links and names down below so you can watch them straight after you're finished reading this.

I'm so excited for Mockingjay coming out and I cannot believe that it comes out this month! I'll need to get reading the book so I can refresh myself about what's in it. I'M SO FRICKING EXCITED!

Here's the links to the trailers. I'll also link previous trailers for Mockingjay.

There are also various Mockingjay teaser trailers etc found on The Hunger Games youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjvqqA-Eogozfm244OhUESw

Thanks for reading tributes,

IT'S BEEN A YEAR?!

Where has the time flown, eh? I cannot believe that it has been one whole year since I've started this blog, I just can't even. Anyway, I'd just like to thank everyone that has been reading this thing, you're just the bee's knees. We didn't manage to make it to the 1000 pageviews mark but I'm sure we will make it soon! I seriously cannot believe that after 20-odd blog posts I have nearly 1000 pageviews, it's just amazing.

Thanks so much. If you'de like to see any specific posts please just let me know because that would be great!

Emma (heartingTHG)

P.S. I seriously cannot thank you enough for what you have done, you have spurred me to keep up this whole blog shabang and made me really quite proud of it. So thanks for that :)

IT'S ALMOST THE BIRTHDAY

The title of this post probably confused you quite a fair bit, but have no fear. Next week (28/10/2014) it will be exactly one year since I've started this blog. Wow, that sounds weird to say.
Anyway, I would like to set a goal for all of us for next week. At the minute this blog has 900 pageviews, and I'd like to see if we could get to 1000 for our one year anniversary. I will attempt to plan something spectacular but I'm not the most creative. I'll maybe ask Sarah (trisgirlonfire), she's pretty creative. Anyhow, I'm challenging you to try to get us to 1000 pageviews by next week, so tell your friends guys. I'll be keeping the tally up to date on twitter so you can keep track of how we are doing on there.

I seriously cannot thank you people enough,
Emma (heartingTHG)

Soundtracks

I don't know if it's just because I'm a big music fan or just because they're genius but I love a good soundtrack. Because I have such love for the music of films, I thought I'd share some of the music I especially love that can be found in some brilliant films. I'll be listing them from 1 to 5 of my very favourite down. Anyway, here goes:

1. The Fault in Our Stars
It's like the producers combined some of the best pieces of music and put it into one album. I absolutely frickin' adore this album and it was played pretty much non-stop throughout my summer this year.

2. Catching Fire
The music in Catching Fire isn't at all like the songs in The Fault in Our Stars, first of all because it's aimed to create different emotions and second of all because it's all instrumental. However, I still love a good instrumental piece and these ones are just great.

3. The Maze Runner
This one comes very closely behind Catching Fire. Even though it was just recently released, there are still some amazing pieces in this album that just create the exact type of tension needed for the movie. Just fab tbh.

4. Divergent
These ones are a bit like TFIOS ones in the fact that they're wordy, if that makes any sense. Just some pretty damn good songs on this one as well tbh. I'm kind of running out of things to say here.

5. The Day After Tomorrow
Now this one kind of goes against the recurring theme that we had going a minute ago but I just have to mention the musical masterpiece that is this soundtrack. Like srsly.

Now, you may be wondering where some of the other dearly beloved soundtracks are. Don't get me wrong I do love other soundtracks, but to be honest I wasn't sure where to slot them in around the ones I already have. I also wanted to make this post be as short-ish as I could make it. Anyway some of the other soundtracks that are also amazing are all of the Harry Potter ones and The Hunger Games and other things of that sort.

Right, you can now go ahead and buy all of these soundtracks so we can love them together. That would be nice, wouldn't it?

What are your favourite soundtracks, because I seriously need to know so I can go get them.

Emma (heartingTHG)

I'm also running out of ideas of things to post, so please leave some sorts of creative ideas for me on twitter, greatly appreciated.

THE MAZE RUNNER

You may have noticed from my twitter over the last couple of months but I have been very excited for the arrival of 'The Maze Runner' movie. I did a post on the books back in July (link here) and expressed my love for the series and seeing it on the big screen has made our bond even stronger. I have to say, the movie is not exactly the same as the book which at some points didn't bother me but at other points did. I'm not going to tell you what bits because then it would be a spoiler for the people that haven't seen it or read it yet. Anyway, the film came out earlier in America and came out yesterday (10th October) for us Brits, just to let ya know.

Anyway, enough blabbering, the books were great (not too keen on the ending though) and the film was also amazing. Loved it. Go watch it if you haven't already but make sure to read the book first, or else it will be spoiled.

Also, Dylan O'Brien and Thomas Brodie-Sangster are brilliant.

See ya, runners.
Emma (@heartingTHG)

W.C.K.D. is good.

PAPER TOWNS

Okay, forgive me if I'm wrong, but is Paper Towns not just like fricking amazing? John Green is a genius if you ask me. I, as you can tell, am a huge fan of John Green because he is just amazing, okay? Anyway, this Paper Towns was no exception.

As you know, I'm appalling at descriptions so here is the blurb on the book:
'Quentin Jacobson has always loved Margo from afar, so when she climbs through his window to summon him on an all-night road trip of revenge he cannot help but follow. But the next morning, Q turns up at school and Margo doesn't. She's left clues to her disappearance, like a trail of breadcrumbs for Q to follow.
Any everything leads to one unavoidable question:
Who is the real Margo?'

FabuLouS, i KnoW. (and if you've read the book you will get the whole capitalisation thing I did there).

Anyway, I thought the book was great, but what about you? What books would you recommend for me because I need to know! Leave me a comment or send me a tweet to let me know your thoughts/feels.

See ya,
Emma (@heartingTHG)

BELGIUM... WHAT?

Okay so I am going on to Belgium guys. This means that I won't be able to post anything or tweet very much. I'll be away from Wednesday until Monday visiting the World War One battlefields over France and Belgium. I also will be needing a book recommendation from either John Green's 'An Abundance of Katherines' or 'Will Grayson Will Grayson' because I will be on a 12 hour bus journey and will need something to do. Feel free to leave a request in the comments or on twitter because the help would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys, Emma (heartingTHG)

FOUR

As the majority, if not all, of you Divergent fans out there have heard of a certain book called 'Four' which was out reasonably recently, I thought that we could just fangirl over it's greatness.

Okay guys so can we just. I can't even.

Right, let's attempt a description now. The book shows excerpts of Tobias' life leading up to the choosing ceremony and, in true Veronica style, it it shown amazingly. It tells you about his aptitude test and why he chose Dauntless in the first place. It gives us some of his time in Dauntless and how he beat Eric (and he whooped his ass) in the rankings. It also gives us a little background from Divergent as to why the whole ranking situation changed. It also shows us some of the parts from Divergent from Tobias' perspective, which are magical.

Anyway, crappy summary over, I just can't deal with the Divergent series hardback books. They;re bloody beautiful. Just so slick and sophisticated, I just can't.

Anyway, just thought I'd give you a little kick up the backside to go buy Four if you haven't already. If, like me, you cannot be bothered going out your house to get it, here's a link to it in Waterstones, which provides free shipping.

Ooh, even better. If you order online you get £2 off. Not bad eh?

If you have read this please feel free to fangirl with me over twitter, it would be much appreciated.

I Just Don't Get Tumblr

So I have a bit of a dilemma; I'm a fangirl that can't work tumblr. I know, it sounds crazy but I just don't understand how to work it. I have 3 blogs there I think and I cannot work a single one. The app is slightly less confusing to me but I still need help. I also don't get how to fins/follow people on it.

If you can offer any help it would be greatly appreciated.

NEW TRAILERS ASDSHFALF

Okay, so as you saw in my last post, I am pretty excited about the Maze Runner. I'm also pretty excited about Mockingjay. This means that this week has been a delight because we've got the Mockingjay teaser trailer called 'Our Leader the Mockingjay' (link here) and the Maze Runner trailer (link here). I warn you, they are both bloody fantastic.

Go watch them. Now.

The Maze Runner

I'm presuming most of you have heard of the Maze Runner series. If you haven't, have you been living under a rock? Anyway, if you haven't it is pretty much one of the most amazing book series there is out there. The series has 3 books: The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure which are written by James Dashner. At the moment I have read the first two books and I am a bit through The Death Cure. I will probably be doing a full review of the series after I finish the last one. If you liked the Hunger Games then you will definitely like this too! (I promise).

In other news of the series, The Maze Runner movie will be released on 19th September 2014 and the link to the trailer is at the end of this post if you want to destroy yourself.

Feel free to exchange your thoughts and feels with me on twitter (@heartingTHG) so we can fangirl together.

Have fun waiting until 19/09/14 after you watch this:

And yes, I do realise that my books don't match, and it is soul destroying.

#VoteKatniss

As you probably know, twitter has exploded with the millions of #votekatniss tweets going around for the MTV movie awards (I think that's what it is). So, that means you need to vote. It's quite simple really; just go onto twitter and make a little tweet containing '#votekatniss'.

At the moment Katniss is neck in neck with Tris, who I know is also loved by many of you as well as myself. I'm talking like 1,000 votes difference. Just now Katniss is leading and we need to keep that up and make Jen proud of her tributes!

So, the moral of this post is to go and vote for Katniss so she wins for our favourite character.

Thanks for reading this post, you can find me on bloglovin and twitter. Emma:)

A tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman: 1967-2014
As you probably all know, yesterday (Feb 2nd 2014) Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his apartment in New York. You also may know him as Plutarch Havensbee from the Catching Fire movie. He was an incredibly talented actor and was in many movies such as: The Boat That Rocked, Mission: Impossible, Capote, and many many more.
I think that us tributes should be respectful of his death, especially on twitter, as his death will have had a huge impact on his friends and family around him. It has been said that his death will not effect the release of Mockingjay as he was practically finished shooting his scenes although it does mean that there may need to be a slight alteration to the second movie. I do not recommend that you be disrespectful and only care about the movies as Philip was a huge part in them and was the best Plutarch that there will ever be. I also do not recommend that you send tweets to The Hunger Games' twitter as they will not answer at this time as they too have suffered a loss and will not want to be going straight to the internet about it.
I hope you respect Philip's death and his family as they are going through a really hard time already from the media and reporters etc.
Rest in Peace Mr Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Looking for Alaska by John Green review

I recently finished Looking for Alaska by John Green - found here - so I decided to do a nice review for you all.

Looking for Alaska:
Miles Halter's whole life has been one big non-event, until he meets Alaska Young.
Gorgeous, clever and undoubtedly screwed up, Alaska draws Miles into her reckless world and irrevocably steals his heart. For Miles, nothing can ever be the same again.

When I read the first few chapters of this I wasn't too sure of it if I'm being honest. Although my feelings very quickly changed and I pretty much fell in love with it. It follows the life of Pudge (Miles) who goes to a boarding school in Alabama called Culver Creek. Pudge meets a girl called Alaska Young who he instantly falls in love with and the rest of the book pretty much follows the events of Culver Creek with Pudge and Alaska. (I know I am not the best at describing or summarising so sorry). Anyway I thought that especially the second part of this book (or the 'after' section) was especially amazing. I am a fan of John Green's books anyway but this has put him up there in amongst my favourite authors. This, like most other John Green books, literally makes you feel the emotions that the characters are feeling and of course, makes you cry.
I will stop this post now before I end up spoiling the entire book to you because I get a bit over excited about this. I's definitely recommend you to read this book and The Fault in our Stars because they are two of my favourite John Green books and they are just perf.

Thanks for reading this blogpost.
